TITLE: Human Resources Generalist


•Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
•Previous experience in Human Resources required
•Knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and MUNIS (preferred)

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent

JOB GOAL: Provide Human Resources support in the school district. Perform administrative work of a complex nature independently, general office functions and related work as required. Acts in a confidential capacity to the Assistant Superintendent with regard to employee relations, and other management and administrative activities. Manages leaves and supports retirement process for employees in the district. Oversees open enrollment and processes retirements. Coordinate staff accident reports and unemployment claims. Works cooperatively with other central office personnel.


1. Serve as a member of an HR team for a school district with 900+ employees working with employees and job applicants
electronically and in person
2. Interact with and handle inquiries from all levels of Central Office Staff, School Personnel, and the public.
3. Maintain human resources database for contracts, state and federal reporting.
4. Process new hire paperwork and conduct new hire benefit information orientation
5. Process employment status changes including, but not limited to, new hires, changes in work assignment including transfers,
changes in compensation, and separations from employment
6. Collaborate with the Town of Westford’s Human Resources Coordinator on the Open Enrollment Process and process benefit
enrollments and changes
7. Maintain electronic and paper personnel files
8. Process verification of income and employment
9. Work with retirees transitioning benefits and status from active employment to retirement
10. Assist with annual letters of reassurance for 10-month employees
11. Coordinate and administer Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and the fingerprint requirements
12. Handles the MUNIS entries, annual staff changes and updates
13. Assist the Assistant Superintendent in development of HR employee relations and labor negotiation materials for collective
14. Conduct salary surveys as needed
15. Handles staff accident reports
16. Strong computer competence including but not limited to, abilities with standard office software (ex. Word and Excel) and HRIS
data entry
17. Assist with the administration of the FMLA and LOA processes including sending letters, receiving doctor notes, calculating sick
time and managing benefits throughout the FMLA and LOA leaves
18. Develop calendar for recruitment fairs; attend all teacher job fairs; distribute resumes to hiring managers in a timely fashion
19. Collaborate with payroll on human resources related matters
20. Provide support and make recommendations to building administrators and employees regarding employment issues, basic
contract provisions, training and promotional opportunities.
21. Participate in interviews when requested
