The Franklin High School community is seeking an engaged, visionary, and passionate instructional leader to serve as its next high school principal.

Franklin High School is a flourishing school community serving approximately 1,500 students, grades 9-12, with a dedicated faculty and staff of around 210. Franklin, Massachusetts, is home to approximately 33,000 residents and boasts a supportive community; historical sites including the nation’s First Public Library; thriving local businesses and restaurants; an active vision for economic development; a creative, state-recognized Cultural District; plentiful opportunities for youth involvement; and convenience to Boston, Providence, Worcester, and Cape Cod.

Franklin High School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, providing a rigorous curriculum for students preparing for competitive colleges and universities, careers, or the military. Franklin High School faculty and staff are committed and dedicated in their support of students’ academic, social, and emotional growth in an inclusive setting.

Franklin High School students learn in a state-of-the-art facility, which opened in 2014, with modern and contemporary learning spaces. Students at Franklin High School are supported in a 1:1 digital learning environment on the Google platform with Chromebooks. Franklin High School is proud of its distinguished Franklin Arts Academy, a specially designed curriculum for interested students in grades 10-12 that merges traditional academic subjects with an arts curriculum. Franklin High School students win numerous awards at arts, theatre, and music festivals each year.

Franklin High School students have ample opportunities for involvement through co-curricular activities. Students at Franklin High School have the opportunity to participate in over 50 after-school activities and clubs that are suited to meet student interests. In addition to numerous sports-specific titles and championships, the Franklin High School athletic program has won numerous programmatic awards, including the Boston Globe Ernest Dalton Award in 2018-2019 for having the #1 Division 1 high school in the 2018-2019 school year.

The successful principal will serve as the instructional leader of the high school, collaborating with the district and building administrative teams and high school faculty to implement the community’s consensus of a “Portrait of a Franklin Graduate”. The principal serves as the educational administrator and manager of the building and is responsible for the site-based budget, academic scheduling, supervision and evaluation of staff, recruitment and retention of personnel, as well as the operation and management of the school facility.

The successful candidate will have Massachusetts DESE licensure as a principal (grades 9-12); a minimum of five years of teaching experience; demonstrated leadership in curriculum, budgeting, and staff development; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, educators, and families to maintain a caring and supportive school culture; demonstrated ability in staff recruitment, mentoring, supervision, and evaluation; a Master’s degree in educational administration or a related field of leadership; and experience as an administrator and supervisor. Job Requirements
