Job Description:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for configuration, administration, management and support for IT systems including client devices, servers, applications and services. The Systems Administrator works with the district’s Technology team to ensure efficient and reliable delivery of services to students and staff.

 

Qualifications:

Ability to troubleshoot complex problems involving multiple systems
Certifications: MCSE/MCSA Server Infrastructure, VMware, Google Certified Administrator or other relevant certifications
Experience managing a Google Apps For Education or Google Apps For Work installation/implementation.
Strong communication skills and ability to prioritize and multitask in an educational environment
Strong understanding of network fundamentals and security, including experience with a managed wireless network environment, DNS, and DHCP
Prior experience in an Active Directory/LDAP environment (3-5 years minimum preferred)
Prior experience imaging, deploying, and managing a complex client environment including mixed MacOS X, Windows, iOS,  Android, Chrome, and/or VDI clients
Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Windows 7/10 and  MacOS X
Advanced knowledge of VMWare server and client virtualization technology
EMC SAN experience (preferred)

Duties:

Configures, administers, manages, and supports technology systems and infrastructure as assigned by the IT Operations Manager. These systems include self-hosted and cloud-based servers, software applications, and client devices. Infrastructure includes but is not limited to Authentication/Authorization, directory services, DNS, and DHCP.
Performs regular scheduled maintenance, utilizing off-hours windows to minimize impact on users, including evening and weekend work when necessary.
Communicates to technology and district staff in a clear and timely manner, including updates about ongoing issues and notification of maintenance windows.
Documents systems, configurations, procedures, and problem resolutions fully and clearly.
Collaborates with the Technology team on the configuration and deployment of new equipment.
Provides escalated support to Instructional and Technology Specialists (Tier 1) and Computer Technicians (Tier 2); and provides support to Users as necessary (Tier 3)
Collaborates with Technology management to establish security guidelines and promote the use of computer security best-practices and other relevant policies.
Provides training for other technology department staff as needed.
Collaborates with Instructional Technology staff to develop and deliver professional development and training for district staff.
Follows established protocols and procedures.
Provides the Technology Director and IT Operations Manager with timely updates on issues impacting the availability of critical systems.
Ensures that issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
Maintains confidentiality in regards to data stored, processed, or accessed.
Maintains an inventory of systems equipment and maintains a change log for the systems.
Communicates with vendors as needed.
Stays up-to-date on current and future technologies.
Responds to emergency issues during evenings and weekends as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:

Occasionally the employee will need to move and/or lift technology equipment including computers, monitors, and servers, and boxes or other containers storing multiple devices or other related equipment and peripherals.  Employee will occasionally need to access wall and ceiling mounted equipment such as wireless access points and projectors with the use of a ladder.  Employee will occasionally need to access drop ceiling spaces to install and maintain network and other low voltage (non-electrical) cabling.

 

Terms of Employment:

12-month, full time position (1.0 FTE)
